Olfactive.obj

Olfactive objects is a collection of 3D printed ceramics that allows users to influence their occupying space through the sense of smell. This project was done in collaboration with John McCarthy, and the help of StudioUnfold.

The incense bowl, oil burner and candle holder utilize the digital workflow of 3D printing to establish their design details. Each piece was produced by a single extrusion of black clay which resulted in a “seam” being prominently visible on the side of each piece. The seams require the printer head to invert their travel rotation, producing a visible shift in material texture.
